Making peace with food
Before I healed my relationship with food (and sometimes still!) I would find myself questioning my hunger. “How am I already hungry?” “I don’t deserve to feel hungry yet - I just ate that huge meal last night!”
Sound like you?
Making peace with food means giving yourself unconditional permission to eat all foods without guilt or restriction, eliminating feelings of deprivation and reduces the risk of overeating or bingeing.
Steps to Make Peace with Food
1. Allow All Foods: Give yourself permission to eat any food you crave. Remember, no food is off-limits. Have you heard of the science of scarcity?
2. Avoid Guilt: Enjoy your food without guilt or shame. Food should be a source of pleasure and nourishment.
3. Mindful Eating: Pay attention to the flavors, textures, and satisfaction you get from eating. This helps to enhance the eating experience and help you to slow down!
4. Stay Present: Focus on the present moment while eating. This helps you to fully enjoy your food and recognize when you’re satisfied.
